Contest grade balsa is defined as being 3-6lb.ft in density and is mainly used for competition model flying due to the lightness of the wood.

C-grain Balsa Sheet has a mottled appearance and checkerboard pattern. It is very stiff across the sheet but does split easily if wrapped around a curved surface. C-grain wood is perfect for wing ribs, flat tailplanes, flat fuselage sides, formers, and trailing edges.
